Weekend Fun

Gill and I had a great weekend.  On Friday night, we met friends for dinner at Portico.  There was a live band playing and it was great.  I was pretty tired from school so we had an early night.

On Saturday, we just stayed at home and I loved. It had been a long time since we didn't have any plans during the day, especially with all the wedding planning that has been happening.  Saturday night, we had planned to go watch Jeremy race in his first race this year.  He has been working very hard on his new race car, but the races were cancelled due to the rainy weather. Insteatd, we went to Jeremy's and grilled burgers and sausage with Daniel.  Dinner was great and we all had a great time hanging out on Jeremy's patio.

Sunday, I had a planned another day to stay at home while Gill, Jeremy, and Daniel went golfing.  Gill and I went and had lunch and then went to Jeremy's shop to see his new race car.  I wanted to get in the car, so after watching Jeremy demonstrate, I attempted to climb in.  I had no idea how little the windows were and how tight of a space the driver has to sit in.  It was terrible!  I have bruises and scrapes on my legs from trying to get out... I don't know how they do it so quickly and easily!  I had planned to let the boys go golf after that, but I was talked into trying my new clubs out.   I didn't do terribly, but was very hot and bored after about seven holes.  Daniel and I decided to leave and go to the lake.  We took his jet skis out and enjoyed the rest of the evening.  I love Lake Claiborne and was happy to be out on it.

Gill has been traveling so much for work.  He spent the week before last in Columbus, Ohio.  While he had a layover in Atlanta, he met Lou Holtz!  He came up to where Gill was sitting and there was no room.  Gill offered him his seat, like the gentlman his mother raised, but Mr. Holtz declined, saying it kept him young to sit on the floor.  Gill asked him where he was traveling (he was traveling home from a speaking engagement) and then he asked Gill about where he was from and what he did for a living.  They apparently became BFF's in the airport terminal.  Gill was so excited!  I asked him if he had gotten a picture or autograph, but I was told that that would have been rude.

Last week, Gill went to Mississippi for two days to teach a class about population density and he is going to spend all of this week in Houston at a class.  I miss him!
