Our good friend, Rebecca, and her parents, Richard and Janine, threw us a small engagement dinner last week at their house. Annie and Daniel came and so did Gill's brother Clay and his fiance Amber. Mama was there, too.
We had yummy appetizers and Richard grilled hamburgers on his new grill. Rebecca's Grandmother Lewis even sent an angel food cake... that was pink! It was delicious with fresh strawberries on it! All the food was amazing. We had a great dinner and then spent the rest of the evening sitting on the deck by the fire.
I can't believe I didn't take any pictures... I must get better at that!
I went to Townsend House before to pick out a wedding book. I absolutely love it! It is a cream dupioni silk and has our initials embroidered on the front cover. We had to order it, but Mrs. Kim gave me a guest page to have at our party. I am so glad I got to have a page and am not just having to stick a piece of paper in later with names or write it late. (I have already managed to get some coffee on the page, please ignore.)
We have also booked a band for the wedding... The Steve Hearn Project! I am so excited! Mr. Steve worked at my mom's office and I have known him most of my life. I am so glad to have someone playing that I know and is just not some random band. My friends, family, and I listened to him all the time in Ruston. He did, once, officially appoint me as his fan club president, so I guess it's only fitting he is playing my wedding!

Gill and I went down to St. Francisville this past weekend for a friend of his family's wedding. This was my second trip down in one week. I have a feeling that I will be doing this multiple times from now until the wedding. But it is definitely worth it. It also makes it a lot easier to get Gill to go down for wedding planning because he gets to see his family.
We left on Friday when Gill got off work. I was still on Spring Break, so no work for me! We got there about 8:30 and just visited with his mom and dad until bedtime. We got up the next morning and ran some errands. We took Gill out to The Victorian and walked around. We all decided this would be the best place for the wedding. So we booked it this week!
I am so glad we have a date and place in stone, so we can move on to other planning. We stopped by St. Franciscille's BRAND NEW hotel to check on blocking on some rooms. It had officially opened like three days before we were there. It seemed very nice for a Best Western (Is that ugly to say?). Much nicer than the other hotel option in St. Francisville. Mrs. Debbie ended up knowing the lady in charge of booking such things. Small towns are so nice.
We also stopped by The Carriage House at The Myrtles to talk to some friends of the Bryant's about catering. They run The Carriage House and we may do the rehearsal dinner there. I think that would be great.
After all that planning that Gill and Mr. Fred got roped into, we stopped by the nursery to get Mr. Fred some new tomato plants. They have a big garden with all kinds of yummy things growing. Makes me want a garden. A small one. We went and saw the new biddies and talked to Pawpaw. Then we went in for a nap.
We had a nap and then got ready for the wedding that night at Greenwood. It was so much fun and we danced the entire reception. After the wedding, I had my first trip to Ricky's... the bar in St. Francisville. Quite the experience.
The lady who did the cake at this wedding is who Mrs. Debbie said would be the best choice for us, so we all made sure we tried a piece of cake. It was delicious! It was very most and the icing was soft. I am not a fondant fan. It was beautiful!
We had a great weekend and got a lot accomplished... I hope everything else goes this smoothly!

Wedding Venue?
Mama and I left for St. Francisville at 6:45 Tuesday morning for what was the first of many trips down to plan the wedding. Mrs. Debbie made several appointments of places for us to visit and tour to try and find a place for the wedding.
We are getting married November 19th and want to be marreid outside. We need to make sure wherever we found also had enough room in case we need to move inside at the last minute beacuse of weather. That cut down our choices a great deal. It is probably for the best, because I had a hard time trying to make a decision.
My two favorites were Greenwood Plantation and The Victorian of the Felecianas. The Victorian has a great deal more room and has a better set up on the inside for a indoor wedding. I definitely think it is the best choice. We put our name down for the date, but Gill and I are going to St. Francisville for a wedding at Greenwood this weekend. I want to see each place one more time and I need to see them with Gill. We will go see The Victorian on Saturday and then Greenwood that night. I am excited I get to Greenwood with an actual wedding taking place and wish I could see both that way.
